If you’d told me a few years ago that I’d open my own creative shop in the heart of St Peter Port, I probably wouldn’t have believed you.
Messy Minds wasn’t created from a detailed business plan or years of experience in retail. It came from seeing a gap in Guernsey for something different. Somewhere colourful, welcoming and creative where people could switch off, spend time together and leave with something they’d made themselves.
More Than Just a Craft Studio
When people first hear about Messy Minds, they often think we’re simply somewhere to decorate phone cases or make crafts.
In reality, we’re so much more than that.
Messy Minds is a creative retail and craft studio in the heart of St Peter Port, Guernsey. Alongside thousands of colourful craft supplies, gifts and stationery, we offer hands-on experiences where anyone can create something personal to take home.
Whether you’re decorating a phone case, creating a notebook or joining one of our seasonal events, the goal has always been the same: to make creativity easy, fun and accessible.
Creating Memories, Not Just Products
One thing I realised very quickly is that people rarely remember what they bought years later. They remember who they were wither they remember their child proudly holding up something they’d made themselves. Those are the moments I wanted Messy Minds to create.
Every birthday party, family visit, holiday activity or spontaneous afternoon in town becomes an opportunity to make memories together.
That’s something no online shopping basket can replace.
Taking the Leap
Starting a business at 21 wasn’t easy.
There were plenty of people who questioned whether it would work, whether Guernsey needed another shop, or whether creativity could become a sustainable business.
There were days where everything felt uncertain but I believed that if we built somewhere people genuinely enjoyed visiting, they would keep coming back.
After months of planning, sourcing products, renovating and learning more than I ever expected about retail, the doors finally opened. Seeing people walk through those doors for the first time made every late night worthwhile.
